Basic Authentication

Basic Authentication utilizes the Authorization header when performing HTTP requests. This method is used if both a username and password are required to access the web-server.

Acceptable Credential Types:

  • Basic/Snippet Credential

  • SOAP/XML Host Credential

  • Low-code tools: rest Credential

In all three credential types, the required fields to configure Basic Authentication include:

  • username: This field provides the username for the request.

  • password: This field provides the password for the request.

Example

You need to make a request to a web server that requires the username of Spongia and the password of Bob.

To configure Basic Authentication, the following fields would need to be configured:

  • Username: Spongia

  • Password: Bob
