What is a PowerPack?

A PowerPack is an exportable and importable package of one or more Dynamic Applications, device classes, device templates, event policies, custom reports, dashboard widgets, dashboards, run book policies, run book actions, ticket templates, credentials, themes, device categories, and/or business service policies.

You can use PowerPacks to share customized content among SL1 systems and to download customized content from ScienceLogic.

You can create a PowerPack on a SL1 system to export one or more Dynamic Applications, device classes, device templates, event policies, custom reports, dashboard widgets, dashboards, run book policies, run book actions, ticket templates, credentials, themes, device categories, and/or business service policies. You can then import that PowerPack on another SL1 system to install these items on that system.

PowerPacks include automatically generated version numbers and license keys to provide version control and to protect the content of each PowerPack. When exporting a PowerPack you can generate a license that prevents users from editing content included in the PowerPack.

You can also apply Intellectual Property Protection (IPP) to the Dynamic Applications and event policies you include in a PowerPack. IPP prevents other users from viewing information required only for editing purposes, and from editing the Dynamic Application or event policy. When IPP is applied, the Dynamic Application or event policy can be edited only on the author system (SL1 system where the Dynamic Application or event policy was created) and only by users with the appropriate Access Keys.

The following sections will describe how to:

  • Install a PowerPack
  • Get information about a PowerPack
  • Edit a PowerPack
  • Create a PowerPack
  • Delete a PowerPack
