Linux SSH Automations PowerPack Release Notes, version 105

Version 105 of the Linux SSH Automations PowerPack updates the "Linux Automation" device group and addresses an issue concerning credentials when running automation actions.

  • Minimum Required SL1 Version: 8.10.0

Before You Install or Upgrade

Ensure that you are running version 8.10.0 or later of SL1 before installing "Linux SSH AutomationsPowerPack version 105.

You must install version 101 or later of the Datacenter Automation Utilities PowerPack before proceeding.

Installation or Upgrade Process

To install version 105 of the Linux SSH Automations PowerPack, perform the following steps:

  1. See the Before You Install or Upgrade section. If you have not done so already, upgrade your system to the 8.10.0 or later release.
  2. Familiarize yourself with the Known Issues for this release.
  3. Download the Linux SSH Automations version 105 PowerPack to a local computer.
  1. Go to the PowerPack Manager page (System > Manage > PowerPacks). Click the Actions menu and choose Import PowerPack. Import the Linux SSH Automations version 105 PowerPack. For details on importing PowerPacks, see the chapter on Installing a PowerPack in the PowerPacks manual.
  2. Click the Install button. For details on installing PowerPacks, see the chapter on Installing a PowerPack in the PowerPacks manual.
  3. See the Run Book Automation manual for instructions on using Action Type contained in the new PowerPack.

Features

This release includes the following features:

  • Enrich SL1 events for Linux devices by automatically running diagnostic commands via a remote SSH connection.
  • Run remediation commands via a remote SSH connection in response to SL1 system process events for Linux devices.

Enhancements and Issues Addressed

The following enhancements and addressed issues are included in version 105 of the "Linux SSH Automations" PowerPack:

  • An issue was addressed in which the "%D" substitution in a credential was causing an error to occur when running a Linux SSH automation action.
  • The "Linux Automation" device group dynamic rules were updated to use the "Aligned Dynamic App" selector to identify the devices that Linux SSH automation actions can run on. The "Linux: Performance Cache" and "Linux: Configuration Cache" Dynamic Applications are automatically selected.
