Cisco: UCS PowerPack Release Notes, version 102

Version 102 of the Cisco: UCS PowerPack addresses issues with device component mapping relationships and Dynamic Application alerts.

  • Minimum Required SL1 Version: 7.8.3

Before You Install or Upgrade

Ensure that you are running version 7.8.3 or later of SL1 before installing "Cisco: UCS" PowerPack version 102.

Installation or Upgrade Process

To install version 102 of the Cisco: UCS PowerPack, perform the following steps:

By default, installing a new version of a PowerPack will overwrite all content in that PowerPack that has already been installed on the target system. You can use the Enable Selective PowerPack Field Protection setting in the Behavior Settings page (System > Settings > Behavior) to prevent the new version of the PowerPack from overwriting local changes for some commonly customized fields.

If you are currently using the Dynamic Applications in this PowerPack to monitor devices, collection errors might occur for one or two polling cycles during the installation of a new version. To prevent collection errors during an upgrade, you can optionally disable collection for monitored devices before performing the following steps and re-enable collection after the upgrade.

To install this PowerPack:

  1. Familiarize yourself with the Known Issues for this release.
  2. See the Before You Install or Upgrade section. If you have not done so already, upgrade your system to the 7.8.3 or later release.
  3. Download the "Cisco: UCS" version 102PowerPack from the Support Site to a local computer.
  4. Go to the PowerPack Manager page (System > Manage > PowerPacks). Click the Actions menu and choose Import PowerPack. When prompted, import "Cisco: UCS" version 102.

Features

This release includes the following features:

  • Dynamic Applications (47) that enable the ScienceLogic platform to discover, model, and monitor Cisco UCS Manager devices
  • Event Policies (61) that are triggered when Cisco UCS Manager component devices meet certain status criteria
  • Device Classes (9) for each type of Cisco UCS Manager component device monitored
  • A sample credential (1) for discovering Cisco UCS Manager component devices

Enhancements and Issues Addressed

The following enhancements and addressed issues are included in version 102 of the "Cisco: UCS" PowerPack:

  • The following Dynamic Applications were updated to ensure the accuracy of device component mapping relationships:
  • Cisco: UCS Blade Relationships Configuration
  • Cisco: UCS Compute Rack Unit Relationships Configuration
  • Cisco: UCS Fabric Relationships Configuration
  • Cisco: UCS FEX Relationships Configuration
  • Cisco: UCS IO Module Relationships Configuration
  • An issue was addressed that was causing empty "UCS: Fan" and "UCS: Power Supply" alerts to appear when the "Cisco: UCS Fan Configuration" and "Cisco: UCS PSU Configuration" Dynamic Applications were not collecting data.
