Cisco: UCS Standalone Rack Server PowerPack Release Notes, version 105

Version 105 of the "Cisco: UCS Standalone Rack Server" PowerPack  converts the "Cisco UCS SA Reclassification" Dynamic Application to Python 3, adds a new execution environment, and makes multiple updates to run book action policies.

  • Minimum Required SL1 Version: 12.3.0

Before You Install or Upgrade

Ensure that you are running version 12.3.0 or later of SL1 before installing the "Cisco: UCS Standalone Rack ServerPowerPack.

Installation or Upgrade Process

To install version 105 of the "Cisco: UCS Standalone Rack Server" PowerPack, perform the following steps:

To install this PowerPack:

  1. Familiarize yourself with the Known Issues for this release.
  2. See the Before You Install or Upgrade section. If you have not done so already, upgrade your system to the 12.3.0 or later release.
  3. Download the "Cisco: UCS Standalone Rack Server" version 105 PowerPack from the Support Site to a local computer.
  4. Go to the PowerPack Manager page (System > Manage > PowerPacks). Click the Actions menu and choose Import PowerPack. When prompted, import "Cisco: UCS Standalone Rack Server" version 105.
  5. Click the Install button. For details on installing PowerPacks, see the chapter on Installing a PowerPack in the PowerPacks manual.

Features

This release includes the following features:

  • Dynamic Applications that discover and collect data from Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) rack servers
  • Event Policies that are triggered when Cisco UCS rack servers meet certain status criteria
  • Device Classes for each type of Cisco UCS rack server monitored
  • A sample Credential for discovering Cisco UCS rack servers
  • A Device Dashboard that displays information about Cisco UCS rack servers
  • A Device Template that you can apply during discovery
  • A Run Book Action/Policy that assigns Cisco UCS rack servers to the correct Device Classes when they are discovered with SNMP disabled

Enhancements and Issues Addressed

The following enhancements and addressed issues are included in this release:

  • Converted the "Cisco UCS SA Reclassification" Dynamic Application to Python 3.
  • Created the new "Cisco: UCS SA Environment v105" execution environment to support the change to Python 3.
  • Updated the "Cisco: UCS Device Class Realignment" run book action policy to run with the new "Cisco: UCS SA Environment v105" execution environment.
  • Updated the "Cisco: UCS Standalone Rack Server Reclassification" run book action policy to remove hyphens from device model names so that devices can be discovered. (Cases: 00360803, 00400242)
  • Updated the run book action log location and name to "/var/log/sl1/cisco_ucs_sa_rba.log"
  • Updated the "Cisco UCS SA Reclassification" Dynamic Application to support sslverifypeer, certpath, and proxy information provided in a credential.

Known Issues

The following known issues affect version 105 of the "Cisco: UCS Standalone Rack Server" PowerPack:

  • When discovering Cisco UCS Secure Network Server (SNS) devices, they may report a model name that prevents SL1 from correctly aligning Dynamic Applications to it. If SL1 fails to align any Dynamic Applications to the SNS device, you can manually align the following Dynamic Applications:
