Juniper: Mist PowerPack Release Notes Version 101

Version 101 of the "Juniper: Mist" PowerPack adds a universal credential, updates all Dynamic Applications to support pagination and use the Snippet Framework, adds two new Dynamic Applications, and significantly reduces the number of API calls made by the PowerPack.

Before You Install or Upgrade

Ensure that you are running version 12.2.0 or later of SL1 before installing the "Juniper: MistPowerPack.

For details on upgrading SL1, see the relevant SL1 Platform Release Notes.

Installation and Upgrade Process

If you are currently using the Dynamic Applications in this PowerPack to monitor devices, collection errors might occur for one or two polling cycles during the installation of a new version. To prevent collection errors during an upgrade, you can optionally disable collection for monitored devices before performing the following steps and re-enable collection after the upgrade.

To install this PowerPack:

  1. Search for and download the PowerPack from the PowerPacks page (Product Downloads > PowerPacks & SyncPacks) at the ScienceLogic Support Site.
  2. In SL1, go to the PowerPacks page (System > Manage > PowerPacks).
  3. Click the Actions menu and choose Import PowerPack. The Import PowerPack modal appears.
  4. Click Browse and navigate to the PowerPack file from step 1.
  5. Select the PowerPack file and click Import. The PowerPack Installer modal displays a list of the PowerPack contents.
  6. Click Install. The PowerPack is added to the PowerPack Manager page.

Features

This release includes the following features:

  • Dynamic Applications that discover and collect data from Juniper: Mist
  • Device Classes for each type of Juniper: Mist component device SL1 monitors
  • Event Policies and corresponding alerts that are triggered when Juniper: Mist devices meet certain status criteria
  • A sample SOAP/XML Credential ("Juniper Mist Example") that you can use to create your own Juniper: Mist Credential

Enhancements and Issues Addressed

The following enhancements and addressed issues are included in this release:

  • Added a universal credential and example credential to the PowerPack.

  • Updated all Dynamic Applications to support pagination and use the Snippet Framework.

  • Deprecated the "Mist: API Cache Producer" Dynamic Application.

ScienceLogic recommends manually disabling the "Mist: API Cache Producer" Dynamic Application. If the Dynamic Application remains active and aligned to the root device, extra API calls will be made, and you may experience performance or rate limit issues.

  • Added two new Dynamic Applications to the PowerPack:

    • Mist: Gateway Asset Configuration

    • Mist: Switch Asset Configuration

  • Added support for the "Mist: Alarms and Events" Dynamic Application to properly handle alarms for gateways and switches.

  • Updated the start time calculation for alarm collection to use the polling frequency of the "Mist: Alarms and Events" Dynamic Application.

  • Significantly reduced the number of individual API calls the PowerPack makes by using organization level endpoints instead of requesting data per site.
