Skylar Analytics 1.5.0 Release Notes

Skylar Analytics contains a set of tools that lets you view, analyze, and use the data that SL1 gathers and sends to the Skylar AI engine. Skylar Analytics insights are presented in the SL1 user interface, in a ScienceLogic-hosted instance of Apache Superset, and in the Skylar AI API.

Version 1.5.0 of Skylar Analytics includes a new Skylar Settings section and package updates to improve security and system performance.

Skylar Analytics requires SL1 12.3.1 or later. ScienceLogic strongly recommends that you always use the most recent SL1 and AP2 releases in conjunction with the most recent Skylar AI release. Using the most recent releases will ensure that your Skylar AI system has access to the latest datasets and features. For more information, see the SL1 Platform and AP2 Release Notes.

Features and Enhancements in Version 1.5.0

Skylar Analytics includes the following components:

  • Data Visualization enables SQL-based dashboards and charts based on data gathered by Skylar AI and SL1. Data Visualization is achieved using a ScienceLogic-hosted instance of Apache Superset or with your own third-party tool.
  • Data Exploration enables third-party tools that use the Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) interface to access the metric data from Skylar AI. This component lets you use ODBC to connect Skylar AI data with applications like Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, or other business intelligence tools.
  • Anomaly Detection uses always-on anomaly detection to find metric outliers in Dynamic Application time series data. Anomaly Detection automatically identifies unusual patterns in the real-time performance metrics and resource data that it observes.
  • Predictive Alerting helps to avoid problems such as file systems running out of space, hosts running out of memory, or issues with network reliability due to oversubscription. The alerts are generated in advance of the problem and can provide days, weeks, or months of notice depending upon the conditions.

The following new features are included in this release of Skylar Analytics:

  • This release includes package updates to improve security and system performance.
  • Added a new Skylar Settings section to replace the Account Settings section available on the Skylar AI home page. Administrators can use the Skylar Settings section to provision new accounts, manage users, user groups, and roles, and configure single sign-on (SSO) to authenticate with SAML. For more information, see the "Configuring Access Control in Skylar Analytics" chapter in the Skylar Analytics version 1.5.0 manual.
