Skylar Analytics contains a set of tools that lets you view, analyze, and use the data SL1 gathers and sends to the Skylar AI engine. Skylar Analytics insights are presented in the SL1 user interface, in a ScienceLogic-hosted instance of Apache Superset, and in the Skylar AI API.
Version 1.7.2 of Skylar Analytics includes new datasets for SL1 events, improvements to Anomaly Detection and Predictive Alerting charts and eventing, and other new features and addressed issues.
While ScienceLogic recommends that you use SL1 version 12.3.8 or later, 12.3.2 is the minimum SL1 version you can use with this release. ScienceLogic strongly recommends that you always use the most recent SL1 and AP2 releases in conjunction with the most recent Skylar AI release. Using the most recent release ensures that your Skylar AI system has access to the latest datasets and features. For more information, see the SL1 Platform and AP2 Release Notes.
New Features and Enhancements in Version 1.7.2
The following new features are included in this release of Skylar Analytics:
-
Added three new datasets: evtstat, EventTrendsDevice, and EventTrendsDeviceGroup. These datasets and their related dashboards and charts let you view SL1 event data in the Data Visualization component of Skylar Analytics. Please note that these datasets contain raw data and do not have user-friendly column names.
-
Updated the following definitions in the Data Visualization component of Skylar Analytics:
- ifstat_p95_hourly_agg_mv. Removed the ifstat_ds column from the selected column set.
- ifstat_p95_daily_agg_mv. Removed the ifstat_hs column from the selected column set.
-
Added a Category column to all datasets that previously included the Class and Sub-Class columns. Category, Class, and Sub-Class should populate as expected.
-
Improved the accuracy of the data displayed on the Anomaly Chart modal in Anomaly Detection as well as the Skylar Analytics Summary graph for Predictive Alerting.
-
Updated the Predictive Alerting algorithms so that predictive alerts are less sensitive to small changes and do not generate unnecessary alerts. Also updated the algorithm to wait for two consecutive predictive alerts six to eight hours apart before creating the alert in SL1.
Issues Addressed in Version 1.7.2
The following issues were addressed in this release of Skylar Analytics:
-
Addressed an issue with exporting data that generated an event in SL1 while connecting to Skylar AI from SL1. The SL1 event message starts with the following: "EM7 major event: Error during non-HTTP functionality."
-
Addressed an issue where the bscvstat dataset contained duplicated records.

Known Issues
This release has the following known issue:
- Skylar uses unique PowerPack naming conventions for creating datasets in the Data Visualization component. If you change the name of a PowerPack, Skylar triggers a new dataset, which will cause charts to fail and lose the historical data for that PowerPack. At this time, ScienceLogic recommends that you do not rename any PowerPacks in SL1 if that SL1 system is connected to a Skylar environment.
