New Features and Enhancements in AP2 Quesito version 9.13.1-14

This section describes the features and enhancements that are included in Skylar One AP2 Quesito version 9.13.1-14.

Business Services

  • What's new: Service Insights page for business service monitoring. Introduced a new Service Insights page (Business Services > Service Insights), providing key metrics and visualizations on service adoption, processing stats, and top services by recalculation time. This page helps you monitor the health, usage, and performance of business services at a glance. The following updates have been made to support this feature:

    • An information bar at the top of the Service Insights page (Business Services > Service Insights) shows an overview of all services including: the total number of services, root services, aggregate services, device services, shared services, disabled services, empty services, and orphaned services.

    • Two line graph widgets are included on the Service Insights page (Business Services > Service Insights): one visualizing the time taken to complete hierarchy calculations, and another showing the time taken to complete HAR refresh operations.

    • Bar chart widgets display the top 10 services with the highest number of constituents and the top 10 services with the longest HAR calculation times.

    • Added a bar chart widget that highlights the top 10 status policies based on the number of metric rules they contain.

    • Two additional widgets are available on the Service Insights page (Business Services > Service Insights): one displaying all services with zero constituents and another showing orphaned services. Both widgets allow you to search by service name.

    • Tooltip text on each chart and metric on the Service Insights page (Business Services > Service Insights) provides additional context for the data displayed.

    • Automated data pruning ensures that process performance data older than one week is automatically cleaned up.

    • The Service Insights page (Business Services > Service Insights) is now available by default for users with the required access hooks when running AP2 Quesito with Skylar One version 12.5.20 or later. The BIZ_SVC_INSIGHTS_VIEW and ITS_SERVICE_VIEW access hooks are required.

Additional Business Services Updates

  • The maximum time range viewable in the Timeline panel on the Service Investigator page has been extended from 12 hours to 24 hours.

  • The Overview panel on the Service Investigator page now includes a Location field showing the geographic location aligned to the service. Users with the appropriate access hooks can also edit the location alignment from this field.

  • You can now assign a geographic location to a service when saving it in the Service Investigator. The location you assign is used to align the service with geographic maps. On Skylar One version 12.5.20 and later, the GEOLOC_VIEW and GEOLOC_ALIGN access hooks are required. On earlier versions, the Views:View and Views:Edit access hooks are required.

  • The Classic IT Services menu in the AP2 left navigation bar will be removed in a future release. It remains fully functional and accessible until then.

Dashboards

  • What's new: New Web Content widget. Added a new widget type called Web Content for dashboards, allowing you to visualize key web content monitoring data such as connection time, lookup time, download speed, page size, and more. When creating this widget, you can select from three metric types: Device Properties (such as Device ID, Device Name, and Organization), Web Content Monitors (such as Connection Time, Lookup Time, Download Speed, Page Size, Transaction Time, and Availability), and Monitoring Policy Properties (such as IP Address, Policy ID, Policy Name, Policy URL, and State). The widget supports Line Chart, Number, and Table visualizations. The following updates were made to support this enhancement:

    • Enabled Line Chart, Table, and Number visualizations for the Web Content widget.

    • When creating or editing a Web Content widget, you can choose the unit prefix (for example, bytes, kilobytes, megabytes, gigabytes) to control how metric values are displayed.

    • When creating or editing a Web Content widget, you can filter and select specific monitoring policies for easier configuration.

    • When editing a Web Content widget, you can set Rollup Frequency and Aggregation options for each metric, giving you more control over how data is displayed.

    • The Web Content widget supports unit display using the Scale Prefix field, consistent with other widget types, allowing you to control how metric values are displayed across the Line Chart, Table, and Number visualizations..

    • In the Web Content widget, you can sort and filter results using the Table visualization by policy details (Policy Name, Policy ID, and Policy URL) and by device ID. You can filter by additional device fields including host name, IP address, availability, device class, collector group, device type, and device category.

    • The Web Content widget is enabled by default for systems running Skylar One version 12.5.20 or later.

Events

  • What's new: New Event Categories page. The Event Category Manager page has been updated with a new Event Categories page (Events > Event Categories), replacing the classic, iframed version. This page features a sortable table displaying Name, Event Policy Count, ID, Correlation Time, Event Occurrence, Last Edited By, and Last Edited Date columns for each event category, with each column supporting inline filtering. If you are assigned the appropriate access hooks, you can view, edit, and delete event categories from this page.

Additional Events Updates

  • You can now add extended custom attributes as columns in event tables. Previously could add only base custom attributes.

Additional New Features and Enhancements for Quesito version 9.13.1-14

Devices

  • You can now add extended custom attributes as columns in device tables and leaderboards. Previously could add only base custom attributes.

  • Added a new Location Name field to the device Info drawer to support location mapping for geographic maps. You can edit this field within the Info drawer on the Device Investigator page if you have proper access hooks, otherwise, the field is view only.

Global Manager

  • Improved Global Manager request performance through a new stack cache that is enabled by default. You can configure the cache time-to-live using the GM_STACKS_CACHE_TTL_MS setting in the NextUI environment or configuration file. Set the value to 0 to disable the cache.

  • Removed non-functional Global Manager caches that had been disabled since the AP2 Lokma release. These caches are replaced by the improved stack caching introduced in this release.

Maps

  • Geographic maps now load faster, display more detailed terrain and boundaries out of the box, and scale more reliably when viewing maps with large numbers of nodes. State-level boundaries and labels are now included worldwide.
  • Updated the behavior of maps on the Maps page when Expansion Depth is set to 0. Previously, maps with Expansion Depth set to 0 did not query or display any relationship data, resulting in seed nodes being plotted without any relationship links. Maps with Expansion Depth set to 0 now query and display relationships between the seed nodes only, without fetching neighboring devices outside that set. Maps with Expansion Depth set to 1 or higher continue to fetch all neighboring devices within the specified number of hops from your seed devices.

Skylar Analytics

  • Added two new columns to the Anomaly Detection page: Device Anomaly Count, which displays the total number of metrics that have anomalies on the selected device, and Metric Anomaly Count, which displays the number of anomalies for the selected metric on the device. This update is available on systems with Skylar Analytics version 2.2 or later.

System Administration

  • Added a new API Keys page (Manage > API Keys), where you can create, regenerate, delete, and view metadata for API keys.
  • You must have Skylar One version 12.5.20 or later installed to use the API key feature.

GraphQL (GQL)

  • Enhanced the "businessServiceInsights" resource to include individual service performance timers, making performance data available via GQL.

  • Added business service performance data (including topology and onDemand metrics) to the GQL "businessServiceInsights" resource, with support for filtering by start and end time.

  • Added GQL support for filtering and sorting Web Content widget results. You can filter and sort by policy fields (Name, ID, and URL). You can filter by device fields including host name, IP address, availability, device class, collector group, device type, and device category, and filter and sort by device ID.

  • Added GQL support to configure Rollup Frequency and Aggregation settings per metric for the Web Content widget, allowing Line Chart, Table, and Number visualizations to request different rollup frequency and aggregation options for each metric.

  • Added a new GQL mutation that enables pushing a PowerPack uploaded locally to a Global Manager to one or more managed stacks.

Issues Addressed in Skylar One AP2 Quesito version 9.13.1-14

This section describes the issues that were addressed in Skylar One AP2 Quesito version 9.13.1-14.

Business Services

  • Addressed a known issue where the Service Name field on the Create Service from Template page was not editable until an organization was selected. (Jira ID: SLUI-23099)

Credentials

  • Ensured that editing a credential in the AP2 user interface and changing the organization visibility setting no longer overwrites the credential's password with invalid data when no changes were made to the password field. (Case: 00596045) (Jira ID: SLUI-23562)

Dashboards

  • Resolved an issue where toggling the Show the Metric option on or off when creating a Devices widget using the Number visualization did not update the preview pane if CPU metrics were added after selecting Vitals under Metrics & Properties. (Jira ID: SLUI-23685)

  • Ensured that GraphQL (GQL) queries for the Web Content widget return the expected metric values when filtering using less-than or greater-than comparison filters. (Jira ID: SLUI-23256)

  • Addressed an issue where widgets using the Leaderboard Bar Chart visualization on the Dashboards page displayed bars as zero-value after briefly displaying the correct data, even though the correct values appeared when hovering over the bars. (Case: 00634016) (Jira ID: SLUI-23714)

Devices

  • Ensured that when you initiate maintenance mode on a device, that action appears in the device log. (Case: 00446506) (Jira ID: SLUI-23664)

  • Ensured that columns on the Devices page can be resized and reordered as expected. (Jira ID: SLUI-20081)

  • Resolved an issue on the Device Investigator page where sorting by the number of devices, device classes, and device categories did not work as intended. (Jira ID: SLUI-18855)

  • Resolved an issue that prevented the list of collector groups from scrolling on the Change Collector Group modal to ensure all relevant collector groups are available for selection. (Jira ID: SLUI-22980)

  • Prevented newly created indexed base custom attributes from automatically appearing as default columns on the Devices page. (Jira ID: SLUI-23663)

  • Ensured that ampersand (&) characters in organization names display correctly in the user interface. (Jira ID: SLUI-23463)

  • Addressed an issue that prevented the Devices page from working as intended when filtering the Collector Groups column with multiple group names. (Jira ID: SLUI-21035)

  • Ensured that the Help button on the Collector Groups page displays the correct help topic. (Jira ID: SLUI-20821)

  • Restored the Skylar AI icon for cleared anomaly and prediction events on the Device Investigator Events tab. (Jira ID: SLUI-21725)

Events

  • Ensured the device group list on the Event Policy Suppressions page displays only device groups that have event suppression visibility enabled. (Jira ID: SLUI-23615)

  • Restricted access to the Event Policy Suppression Editor to users that have the Event:Suppressions:View access hook aligned to their account. (Jira ID: SLUI-23616)

  • Enforced rules preventing users from deleting event suppression records from outside of their organization. (Jira ID: SLUI-22178)

Global Manager

  • Addressed an issue where the Version column on the Global Manager Stacks page was blank for stacks that used a virtual IP address (VIP) in a high-availability environment. (Case: 00622624) (Jira ID: SLUI-23532)

GraphQL (GQL)

  • Addressed an issue where the GraphQL Browser page (System > Tools > GraphQL) could not be hidden or restricted on a per-user basis using access hooks. The page is now controlled by the SYS_API_BROWSER_PAGE and SYS_SYSTEM_PAGE access hooks, consistent with other entries under System > Tools. (Case: 00589053) (Jira ID: SLUI-23154)

Maps

  • Resolved a known issue where devices or services could be aligned to multiple organizations if the organization assigned to a location changed, with only the most recent alignment shown on the Locations page (Manage > Locations). (Jira ID: SLUI-23254)
  • Some relationships visible in the Maps page in the classic Skylar One user interface were not displayed on the Maps page in the default AP2 user interface for the same devices. This was mitigated by the Expansion Depth behavior change described in the Maps section above. Previously, maps with Expansion Depth set to 0 did not query or display any relationship data. The updated behavior now queries and displays relationships between the seed nodes, making the Maps page in the AP2 Skylar One user interface consistent with the Maps page in the classic Skylar One user interface when viewing relationships between a specific set of devices. (Cases: 00619621, 00643369) (Jira ID: SLUI-23602)
  • Maps with large numbers of nodes and relationships took up to five minutes to load on the Maps page in the AP2 user interface. This was mitigated by the Expansion Depth behavior change described above. Previously, maps with Expansion Depth set to 0 did not query or display any relationship data, resulting in seed nodes being plotted without any relationship links. The updated behavior queries and displays relationships between the seed nodes only, without fetching neighboring devices. Maps with Expansion Depth set to 1 or higher continue to fetch all neighboring devices within the specified number of hops from your seed devices. (Case: 00624014) (Jira ID: SLUI-23671)
  • Addressed an issue where Layer-2 topology maps did not display relationships for devices with multi-connection (dual-homed) interfaces. (Jira ID: SLUI-23672)

Known Issues

The following known issues affect version 9.13.1-14 of the Skylar One AP2 Quesito release:

Business Services

  • On the Business Services page and the Devices page, converting a basic filter to an advanced search filter and then clearing the advanced filter can cause the page to crash. To work around this issue, refresh the page. (Jira ID: SLUI-23674)

  • The Time Taken to Complete HAR Refresh and Time Taken to Complete Hierarchy Calculation line chart widgets on the Service Insights page (Business Services > Service Insights) may display data that goes back further than seven days, and may appear empty on systems that have not yet accumulated sufficient data. (Jira IDs: SLUI-23818, SLUI-23816)

  • When creating a service from a template, the resulting service might receive a copy of the policies, even if the Make copy of policies checkbox is not selected. (Jira ID: SLUI-23102)

  • The filter to select devices or services during service creation from templates is not editable. (Jira ID: SLUI-23247)

Credentials

  • The Credentials page in the default user interface (AP2) fails to display credentials that are not aligned with an organization, but displays these credentials correctly in the classic user interface on the Credential Management page. (Jira ID: SLUI-20947)

  • On the Credentials page, if you have more than 50 credentials and at least one of the first 50 credentials is not aligned with an organization, the page will display duplicates of these credentials. (Jira ID: SLUI-20947)

Dashboards

  • Editing the scale prefix of a Devices widget using the Leaderboard visualization does not update the Storage Used column in the widget's table. (Jira ID: SLUI-22198)

  • Creating a Devices widget using the Line Chart visualization, then toggling on Area Chart and then selecting either Percentage or Normal from the Stack Options field, can cause the line chart to not display. (Jira ID: SLUI-22592)

  • When editing a Devices widget that uses storage metrics, selecting a scale prefix and saving does not apply the change. The scale prefix selection is not retained after saving. (Jira ID: SLUI-23777)

  • When creating or editing a Devices widget using the Table visualization with the Title links to another page checkbox selected and Dashboards selected from the Link type field, removing the selected dashboard causes the Save Widget button to disable, preventing the widget from being saved. (Jira ID: SLUI-23172)

  • When a File Systems widget using the Leaderboard Bar Chart visualization is driving a subscribed table and multiple selections are made in the bar chart, the "%" unit label appears in the Data Used column of the table instead of the correct kilobyte (kB) unit. (Jira ID: SLUI-10317)

  • Editing an Events widget and setting the Refresh Mode field to None still displays the refresh mode as automatic in the widget's event table. (Jira ID: SLUI-21947)

  • Creating an Interface widget with the Leaderboard visualization, applying an advanced filter, and adjusting the data time span using the Time span filter results in an error. (Jira ID: SLUI-22200)

  • On the Dashboards page, when editing a widget using the Line Chart visualization, deleting the default "0" in the Threshold Line field prevents the widget from being saved. (Jira ID: SLUI-22591)

  • On the Dashboards page, the export banner that appears when you export data from a widget using the Table visualization can shrink or push other widgets out of the visible area, making some content hard to see. (Jira ID: SLUI-23505)

  • In widgets using the Table visualization that have specific entity selections, deleted entities might still appear in the widget configuration after those entities are removed. (Jira ID: SLUI-23229)

  • Using the Comfortable density setting in widgets with the Table visualization might cause the "Find column" menu under Column Preferences to not display column options until the widget is resized. (Jira ID: SLUI-23171)

  • When editing a widget in the Edit Widget modal, if a dashboard has a driving and subscribing widget connected by a custom context, toggling on the This widget can drive other widgets and saving the widget causes the custom context to disappear from the context drop-down field when the toggle is re-enabled, even if the subscribing widget is still using that context. (Jira ID: SLUI-23151)

  • The Select All checkbox on the Dashboards page only applies to dashboards that are currently loaded and visible in the list, and does not include additional dashboards that load as you scroll down. (Jira ID: SLUI-23686)

  • A noticeable delay might occur when interacting with dashboard widgets, such as creating a widget, selecting metrics and properties, or editing a widget. (Jira ID: SLUI-23901)

  • Printing a dashboard that contains widgets using the Number visualization does not work as expected. (Jira ID: SLUI-23954)

Device Management

  • On the Devices page, when sorting your search by the Organization column, the inventory table will sort by Organization ID instead. (Jira ID: SLUI-21459)

  • The assigned organization for devices might not always update, even after performing a bulk alignment organization action on the Devices page. To work around this issue, refresh your browser immediately after completing the bulk alignment action. (Jira ID: SLUI-21483)

  • When deleting a device from the Devices page, the Delete Devices confirmation modal displays an error message instead of the usual confirmation text. Clicking OK still complete the deletion successfully. (Jira ID: SLUI-22538)

  • You might experience an issue where the Devices page loads only the first 30 devices and otherwise continually indicates that the page is loading. (Jira ID: SLUI-23248)

  • On the Interfaces tab of the Device Investigator, when you open the Export dialog from the table settings, the “Choose the scope for the export” options appear but cannot be selected. (Jira ID: SLUI-23507)

  • When sorting by columns on the Device Investigator page in Firefox, the table might continuously attempt to retrieve results unsuccessfully. (Jira ID: SLUI-21095)

  • The number of unacknowledged events in the Device Overview panel of the Device Investigator page does not update despite acknowledging alerts on a device. To work around this issue, add a new "unackEvents" subquery to the "Device Insights" query, then use that subquery to collect and retrieve information on unacknowledged events. (Case: 00471966) (Jira ID: SLUI-20858)

  • The Device Categories page (Devices > Device Categories) fails to load properly whenever there is a category with a null ID. To work around this issue, go to the Device Categories page (System > Customize > Device Categories), locate the category with the null ID, and then remove that category by clicking the delete icon () next to the category. (Jira ID: SLUI-20731)

Events

  • The events on the Events page cannot be sorted by the Organization column. (Jira ID: SLUI-20903)

  • From the Event Policies page (Events > Event Policies), you can delete only a single event policy at a time, even if you select multiple event policies for bulk deletion. (Jira ID: SLUI-20853)

Global Manager

  • The devices on the Devices page in Global Manager systems cannot be sorted by the IP Address column. (Jira ID: SLUI-21108)

  • On Global Manager systems, the View Event Policy option in the Actions menu () on the Events page does not work as expected. (Jira ID: SLUI-21133)

  • On Global Manager systems, the Events page does not display events from child stacks. To work around this issue, clear all system caches on both the child stacks and the Global Manager parent stack, then restart the NextUI service. (Jira ID: SLUI-21134)

  • On Global Manager systems, the ID column in organization widgets and device widgets now displays the organization's GUID rather than the stack ID and organization ID as intended. (Jira ID: SLUI-22654)

GraphQL (GQL)

  • The "harProviderOnDemanProcessing" GQL query incorrectly creates a service table in the "data_har" database when executed with invalid or non-existent service IDs. (Jira ID: SLUI-21135)

  • The "monitorMetricDataSearch" GraphQL (GQL) query for device monitor metrics returns an internal server error. (Jira ID: SLUI-23619)

  • Clicking the Run Now button for any Dynamic Application on the Collections tab of the Device Investigator will display the following GQL error message: "Variable "$procId" of non-null type "ID!" must not be null." (Jira ID: SLUI-21070)

  • In the GQL browser, the auto‑complete suggestions for queries and mutations can fail to load and instead show an error in the user interface and browser console, preventing type‑ahead help while editing requests. (Jira ID: SLUI-23433)

Maps

  • When creating or editing a geographic map, filters applied in one map might be hidden if the related column is hidden in another map. To work around this issue, click the gear icon (), select Column Preferences, and then click "Show All". Alternatively, you can click the gear icon () next to the filter field (used to search devices or services) and select Clear. This prevents columns from being hidden or shown while preserving your applied filters. (Jira ID: SLUI-22809)

System Administration

  • When editing a collector group from the Collector Groups page (Manage > Collector Groups) by clicking its Actions menu (ellipsis icon) and unchecking two or more organizations in the Limit access to specific organizations field of the Edit Collector Group modal, the Organizations column on the Collector Groups page will show that only one organization was deselected, even if multiple were. (Jira ID: SLUI-22167)

  • Message Collectors on the Collector Groups page (Manage > Collector Groups) cannot be sorted by the Message Collectors column. (Jira ID: SLUI-22099)

User Interface

  • Name changes to nodes are not saved on the Nodes page (Manage > Nodes). (Jira ID: SLUI-22248)

  • The filter for columns where you can select a date (such as on the Events or Event Policies pages) might show an error in the browser console when using the “Before,” “After,” or “At” options. (Jira ID: SLUI-23421)

  • The Skylar AI icon still appears in the basic menu even after the Skylar AI connection is disabled. (Jira ID: SLUI-23327)
