This section describes how to monitor Dell PowerStore systems and their components in Skylar One using the "Dell: PowerStore" PowerPack.

What is Dell PowerStore?

Dell PowerStore is an enterprise storage system used to store and manage large amounts of data for business applications, virtual machines, and databases. It provides available storage that servers can access over the network.

What Does the Dell PowerStore PowerPack Monitor?

The "Dell: PowerStore" PowerPack includes a sample credential for discovering PowerStore devices and Dynamic Applications to monitor PowerStore storage systems.

The "Dell: PowerStore" PowerPack includes:

  • Dynamic Applications to automatically detect and monitor Dell PowerStore storage systems and track their health and performance. The following Dynamic Applications are included in this PowerPack:
    • "Dell PowerStore: Volume Performance"
    • "Dell PowerStore: Storage Container Performance"
    • "Dell PowerStore: Appliance Performance"
    • "Dell PowerStore: Volume Configuration"
    • "Dell PowerStore: Storage Container Configuration"
    • "Dell PowerStore: Appliance Configuration"
    • "Dell PowerStore: Storage Container Discovery"
    • "Dell PowerStore: Volume Discovery"
    • "Dell PowerStore: Appliance Discovery"
  • A sample credential you can use for discovering PowerStore devices and their componenets.

Installing the Dell: PowerStore PowerPack

Before completing the steps in this section, you must import and install the latest version of the "Dell: PowerStore" PowerPack.

By default, when you install a new version of a PowerPack, it overwrites all content from that PowerPack that is already installed on the target system. You can use the Enable Selective PowerPack Field Protection setting on the Behavior Settings page (System > Settings > Behavior) to prevent the new version of the PowerPack from overwriting local changes for some commonly customized fields.

To download and install the PowerPack:

  1. Search for and download the PowerPack from the PowerPacks page at the ScienceLogic Support Center (Skylar One > PowerPacks, login required).
  2. In Skylar One, go to the PowerPacks page (System > Manage > PowerPacks).
  3. Click the Actions menu and select Import PowerPack. The Import PowerPack modal appears.
  4. Click Browse and go to the PowerPack file from step 1.
  5. Select the PowerPack file and click Import. The PowerPack Installer modal displays a list of the PowerPack contents.
  6. Click Install. The PowerPack appears on the PowerPacks page.

If you exit the PowerPack Installer modal without installing the imported PowerPack, the imported PowerPack does not appear on the PowerPacks page. However, the imported PowerPack appears in the Imported PowerPacks modal. This modal appears when you click the Actions menu and select Install PowerPack.
