Dell EMC: Unity PowerPack Release Notes, version 102

Version 102 of the "Dell EMC: Unity" PowerPack addresses an issue in which a Run Book Action was failing during discovery.

  • Minimum Required Skylar One (SL1) Version: 10.2.0

Before You Install or Upgrade

Before you install the "Dell EMC: Unity" PowerPack, ensure that you are running version 10.2.0 or later of Skylar One.

Installation Process

To install version 102 of the "Dell EMC: Unity" PowerPack, perform the following steps:

By default, when you install a new version of a PowerPack, the new version overwrites all content in that PowerPack that has already been installed on the target system. To prevent the new PowerPack version from overwriting local changes to some commonly customized fields, use the Enable Selective PowerPack Field Protection setting in the Behavior Settings page (System > Settings > Behavior).

To install this PowerPack:

  1. Search for and download the PowerPack from the PowerPacks page at the ScienceLogic Support Center (Skylar One > PowerPacks).

  2. In Skylar One (formerly SL1), go to the PowerPacksPowerPack Manager page (System > Manage > PowerPacks).

  3. Click the Actions menu and select Import PowerPack. The Import PowerPack modal appears.

  4. Click Browse and go to the PowerPack file from step 1.

  5. Select the PowerPack file and click Import. The PowerPack Installer modal displays a list of the PowerPack contents.

  6. Click Install. The PowerPack appears on the PowerPack Manager page.

Features

This release includes the following features:

  • Dynamic Applications to discover, model, and monitor performance metrics and collect configuration data for Dell EMC Unity storage systems
  • Device Classes for each type of Unity device monitored
  • Event Policies that are triggered when Unity devices meet certain status criteria
  • An example credential that you can use as a template to create a SOAP/XML credential for connecting to Unity devices

Enhancements and Issues Addressed

This release includes the following enhancements and addressed issues:

  • An issue was addressed in which the "Dell EMC: Unity Classify Root Device Class" Run Book Action was failing during discovery.
