IBM: SVC PowerPack Release Notes, version 101

Version 101 of the "IBM: SVC" PowerPack includes several new PowerPacks, device classes for each type of IMB SVC monitored, and an example Credential that you can use as a template to create a Basic/Snippet credential for connecting to IBM SVC devices.

  • Minimum Required Skylar One (SL1) Version: 8.7.0

Before You Install or Upgrade

Ensure that you are running version 8.7.0 or later of Skylar One before installing the "IBM: SVC" PowerPack.

Installation or Upgrade Process

To install version 101 of the "IBM: SVC" PowerPack, perform the following steps:

By default, installing a new version of a PowerPack will overwrite all content in that PowerPack that has already been installed on the target system. You can use the Enable Selective PowerPack Field Protection setting in the Behavior Settings page (System > Settings > Behavior) to prevent the new version of the PowerPack from overwriting local changes for some commonly customized fields.

To install this PowerPack:

  1. Search for and download the PowerPack from the PowerPacks page at the ScienceLogic Support Center (Skylar One > PowerPacks).

  2. In Skylar One (formerly SL1), go to the PowerPacks page (System > Manage > PowerPacks).

  3. Click the Actions menu and choose Import PowerPack. The Import PowerPack modal appears.

  4. Click Browse and navigate to the PowerPack file from step 1.

  5. Select the PowerPack file and click Import. The PowerPack Installer modal displays a list of the PowerPack contents.

  6. Click Install. The PowerPack is added to the PowerPack Manager page.

Enhancements and Issues Addressed

The following enhancements and addressed issues are included in this release:

  • Summarization is enabled for all presentation objects, which will preserve an overview of older data.
  • This version addresses an issue in which library version conflicts could cause the ScienceLogic libraries in this PowerPack to become corrupted. In this case, deployment of the PowerPack and subsequent collection would fail.

Known Issues

The following known issues affect version 101 of the "IBM: SVC" PowerPack:

  • A "CacheDataIsEmpty" error may be displayed for the "IBM: SVC/Storwize Array Stats" Dynamic Application if a collection executes before the "IBM: SVC/Storwize Statistics Cache" Dynamic Application collects data.
  • A "NameError: name 'stats_cache' is not defined" error may be displayed for the "IBM: SVC/Storwize Array Stats" Dynamic Application if a collection executes before the "IBM: SVC/Storwize Statistics Cache" Dynamic Application collects data.
