IBM: SVC PowerPack Release Notes, version 102

Version 102 of the "IBM: SVC" PowerPack was updated for Python 3.6 compatibility and updated the "IBM: SVC/Storwize Array Discovery" Dynamic Application.

  • Minimum Required Skylar One (SL1) Version: 12.1.2

Before You Install or Upgrade

Ensure that you are running version 12.1.2 or later of Skylar One before installing the "IBM: SVC" PowerPack.

Installation or Upgrade Process

To install version 102 of the "IBM: SVC" PowerPack, perform the following steps:

By default, installing a new version of a PowerPack will overwrite all content in that PowerPack that has already been installed on the target system. You can use the Enable Selective PowerPack Field Protection setting in the Behavior Settings page (System > Settings > Behavior) to prevent the new version of the PowerPack from overwriting local changes for some commonly customized fields.

To install this PowerPack:

  1. Search for and download the PowerPack from the PowerPacks page at the ScienceLogic Support Center (Skylar One > PowerPacks).

  2. In Skylar One (formerly SL1), go to the PowerPacks page (System > Manage > PowerPacks).

  3. Click the Actions menu and choose Import PowerPack. The Import PowerPack modal appears.

  4. Click Browse and navigate to the PowerPack file from step 1.

  5. Select the PowerPack file and click Import. The PowerPack Installer modal displays a list of the PowerPack contents.

  6. Click Install. The PowerPack is added to the PowerPack Manager page.

Features

This release includes the following features:

  • Dynamic Applications to discover, model, and monitor performance metrics and collect configuration data for IBM SVC systems.
  • Device Classes for each type of IBM SVC device monitored
  • Event Policies that are triggered when SVC devices meet certain status criteria
  • An example Credential that you can use as a template to create a Basic/Snippet credential for connecting to IBM SVC devices

Enhancements and Issues Addressed

The following enhancements and addressed issues are included in this release:

  • The PowerPack was upgraded for Python 3.6 compatibility.
  • Updated the Collector Affinity to "Root device collector" for all Dynamic Applications.
  • Addressed an issue in which the IBM: SVC V3700 Storage Array not discovered. The "IBM: SVC/Storwize Array Discovery" Dynamic Application was updated to support IBM SVC V3700.

Known Issues

The following known issues affect version 102 of the "IBM: SVC" PowerPack:

  • A "CacheDataIsEmpty" error may be displayed for the "IBM: SVC/Storwize Array Stats" Dynamic Application if a collection executes before the "IBM: SVC/Storwize Statistics Cache" Dynamic Application collects data.
  • A "NameError: name 'stats_cache' is not defined" error may be displayed for the "IBM: SVC/Storwize Array Stats" Dynamic Application if a collection executes before the "IBM: SVC/Storwize Statistics Cache" Dynamic Application collects data.
