Linux SSH Automations PowerPack Release Notes, version 104

Version 104 of the Linux SSH Automations PowerPack includes security updates and renames an Action Type that is included in the PowerPack.

  • Minimum Required SL1 Version: 8.10.0

Before You Install or Upgrade

Ensure that you are running version 8.10.0 or later of SL1 before installing "Linux SSH AutomationsPowerPack version 104.

You must install version 101 or later of the Datacenter Automation Utilities PowerPack before proceeding.

Installation or Upgrade Process

To install version 104 of the Linux SSH Automations PowerPack, perform the following steps:

  1. See the Before You Install or Upgrade section. If you have not done so already, upgrade your system to the 8.10.0 or later release.
  2. Familiarize yourself with the Known Issues for this release.
  3. Download the Linux SSH Automations version 104 PowerPack to a local computer.
  1. Go to the PowerPack Manager page (System > Manage > PowerPacks). Click the Actions menu and choose Import PowerPack. Import the Linux SSH Automations version 104 PowerPack. For details on importing PowerPacks, see the chapter on Installing a PowerPack in the PowerPacks manual.
  2. Click the Install button. For details on installing PowerPacks, see the chapter on Installing a PowerPack in the PowerPacks manual.
  3. See the Run Book Automation manual for instructions on using Action Type contained in the new PowerPack.

Features

This release includes the following features:

  • Enrich SL1 events for Linux devices by automatically running diagnostic commands via a remote SSH connection.
  • Run remediation commands via a remote SSH connection in response to SL1 system process events for Linux devices.

Enhancements and Issues Addressed

The following enhancements and addressed issues are included this release of the "Linux SSH Automations":

  • The "Execute Commands via SSH" action type was renamed to "Execute Shell Commands".
  • Logging was updated in the PowerPack to improve security.
  • Security updates were made to be compatible with the upcoming SL1 version 11.1.0 release.
