Windows PowerShell Automations PowerPack Release Notes, version 105

Version 105 of the "Windows PowerShell Automations" PowerPack includes updates for Python 3.6. This release also added the run book automation policies from the "Windows PowerShell Automations User Initiated" PowerPack to this PowerPack.

  • Minimum Required SL1 Version: 12.1.2

Before You Install or Upgrade

Ensure that you are running version 12.1.2 or later of SL1 before installing the "Windows PowerShell AutomationsPowerPack.

For details on upgrading SL1, see the relevant SL1 Platform Release Notes.

You must install the "Datacenter Automation Utilities" PowerPack version 201 or later before using the "Windows PowerShell Automations" PowerPack.

Installation or Upgrade Process

To install version 105 of the "Windows PowerShell Automations" PowerPack, perform the following steps:

  1. See the Before You Install section. If you have not done so already, upgrade your system to the 12.1.2 or later release.
  2. Familiarize yourself with the Known Issues for this release.
  3. Download version 105 of the "Windows PowerShell Automations" PowerPack to a local computer.
  4. Go to the PowerPack Manager page (System > Manage > PowerPacks). Click the Actions menu and choose Import PowerPack. For details on importing PowerPacks, see the chapter on Installing a PowerPack in the PowerPacks manual.
  5. Click the Install button. For details on installing PowerPacks, see the chapter on Installing a PowerPack in the PowerPacks manual.
  6. See the Run Book Automation manual for instructions on using the Action Type contained in the new PowerPack.

This release includes the following features:

  • Added a new Python 3.6 Execution Environment called "Windows PowerShell Automations v2.0" and updated the libraries for Python 3.6 compatibility.
  • Updated the action type snippet code for Python 3.6 compatibility.
  • Added the following run book automation policies to this PowerPack, and set the Policy Type for each to Active Events/User Initiated:

  • Windows PowerShell: Run CPU Diagnostic Commands
  • Windows PowerShell: Run Disk I/O Diagnostic Commands

  • Windows PowerShell: Run Print Job Error Diagnostic Commands
