PowerPack Release Notes version 108

Version 108 of the "Tandberg: Infrastructure" PowerPack includes SVG icons for Device Classes and new VCS alerts and events.

  • Minimum Required Platform Version: xxx

Before You Install or Upgrade

Ensure that you are running version 8.10.0 or later of SL1 before installing the "Tandberg: InfrastructurePowerPack.

For details on upgrading SL1, see the relevant SL1 Platform Release Notes.

Installation and Upgrade Process

By default, installing a new version of a PowerPack will overwrite all content in that PowerPack that has already been installed on the target system. You can use the Enable Selective PowerPack Field Protection setting in the Behavior Settings page (System > Settings > Behavior) to prevent the new version of the PowerPack from overwriting local changes for some commonly customized fields.

If you are currently using the Dynamic Applications in this PowerPack to monitor devices, collection errors might occur for one or two polling cycles during the installation of a new version. To prevent collection errors during an upgrade, you can optionally disable collection for monitored devices before performing the following steps and re-enable collection after the upgrade.

To install this PowerPack:

  1. Search for and download the PowerPack from the PowerPacks page (Product Downloads > PowerPacks & SyncPacks) at the ScienceLogic Support Site.
  2. In SL1, go to the PowerPacks page (System > Manage > PowerPacks).
  3. Click the Actions menu and choose Import PowerPack. The Import PowerPack modal appears.
  4. Click Browse and navigate to the PowerPack file from step 1.
  5. Select the PowerPack file and click Import. The PowerPack Installer modal displays a list of the PowerPack contents.
  6. Click Install. The PowerPack is added to the PowerPack Manager page.

Features

xxx PowerPack version xxx includes the following features:

  • Dynamic Applications that enable the ScienceLogic platform to discover, model, and monitor Cisco (Tandberg) video infrastructure devices
  • Event Policies that are triggered when Cisco video infrastructure component devices meet certain status criteria
  • Device Classes for each type of Cisco video infrastructure component device monitored
  • Sample credentials for discovering Cisco video infrastructure component devices

Enhancements and Issues Addressed

The following enhancements and addressed issues are included in version xxx of the xxx PowerPack:

  • New SVG Icons were added to the Device Classes in the PowerPack for the new user interface. NOTE: This update does not impact the classic SL1 user interface.
  • The following "Tandberg: VCS Status" Dynamic Application Alert/Events were disabled by default to prevent false positives. If customers want to enable and use these Dynamic Applications, Event Suppression needs to be used on the VCS/Expressway devices that do not have this feature configured to prevent the false positives:

  • Cisco: Expressway Calendar Connector is not Enabled
  • Cisco: Expressway Call Connector is not Enabled
  • Cisco: Expressway Management Connector is not Enabled
  • The Collector Affinity property was updated from Default to Root device collector for all Tandberg Infrastructure Dynamic Applications.
  • The "Tandberg: VCS Status" Dynamic Application includes two new Alerts/Events:
  • VCS Call License Limit Reached
  • VCS Capacity Warning
  • The sample credential "Tandberg: VCS Status" was updated to include three entries in the HTTP Headers fields. These entries will filter the creating and suppression of alerts generated by the "Tandberg: VCS Call Details" Dynamic Application.
  • These headers are not intended to be used in the actual HTTP connection.

  • On some VCS devices, a string is returned as the cause for a VCS call, rather than an integral value, resulting in an exception. The "Tandberg: VCS Call Details" Dynamic Application was updated to handle the exception quietly, and string cause values are ignored.
  • An issue was addressed in the "Tandberg: VCS Status" Dynamic Application in which it was not correctly collecting the "Type" collection object for IM&P devices.

Known Issues

The following known issue affects version xxx of the xxx PowerPack:

  • The PowerPack will not install on SL1 systems configured to be Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS)-compliant until the new user interface available with SL1 version 8.12.0 and later supports FIPS systems.
