Restorepoint System Requirements
Restorepoint has the following minimum system requirements:
Appliance Resources
The following table lists the minimum and recommended appliance resources that you need to run Restorepoint successfully.
Appliance Resource | Minimum | Recommended | Calculation Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Memory | 8GB | 16GB-32GB for large setups |
1.5GB is required for the application plus 250MB for every 25 concurrent backups, plus a minimum of 6GB for caching and other processes. |
CPU | 1 CPU | 2 CPUs for large files (over 50MB) |
|
Network | 1 Gbit | 10 Gbit | |
Storage Disk 1 |
40MB for application and operating system | ||
Storage Disk 2 | 40MB for database and backups |
Average daily backup size x Retention period x (0.8) (0.8= change frequency) |
Backup Time
Restorepoint estimates two (2) minutes as the average back up time of a device. For an appliance running 50 concurrent devices, estimations are that it can backup 36,000 devices in a 24-hour time frame. The number of concurrent jobs can be increased using the examples below.
Daily Backup | Backup Profile | CPUs | Memory | Concurency |
---|---|---|---|---|
36,000 | Small (less than 1MB) |
2 | 8GB | 50 |
72,000 | Small (less than 1MB) |
4 | 8GB | 100 |
36,000 | Large (less than 50MB) |
4 | 16GB | 50 |
72,000 | Large (less than 50MB) |
8 | 32GB | 100 |
36,000 | X-Large (more than 50MB) |
8 | 32GB | 50 |
72,000 | X-Large (more than 50MB) |
16 | 32GB | 100 |
Agent Resources
The following minimum resources are required to run the agent:
- CPU calculation: 0.5 CPU for every 25 concurrent backups
- Disk: The agent must have enough disk space to accommodate 3x the estimation of in-flight backups. Sending backups from the agent to the appliance is asynchronous.
Restorepoint Ports
For information regarding the specific firewalls and ports Restorepoint requires see Installing Restorepoint.
ScienceLogic Recommendations
If SL1 monitoring is used, consider turning Restorepoint’s monitoring feature off.
Spread backup schedules across a period manually or using the bulk scheduler.
