Dell EMC: Isilon PowerPack Release Notes, version 105

Version 105 of the "Dell EMC: Isilon" PowerPack adds two new alerts and corresponding alert policies, addresses an issue with the "Dell EMC: Isilon Node Hardware Config" Dynamic Application, and updates the minimum privileges required to monitor the Dell EMC: Isilon array.

Before You Install or Upgrade

Ensure that you are running version 12.3.1 or later of Skylar One before installing the "Dell EMC: Isilon" PowerPack.

Installation or Upgrade Process

To install version 105 of the "Dell EMC: Isilon" PowerPack, perform the following steps:

By default, installing a new version of a PowerPack will overwrite all content in that PowerPack that has already been installed on the target system. You can use the Enable Selective PowerPack Field Protection setting in the Behavior Settings page (System > Settings > Behavior) to prevent the new version of the PowerPack from overwriting local changes for some commonly customized fields.

To install this PowerPack:

  1. Familiarize yourself with the Known Issues for this release.
  2. See the Before You Install or Upgrade section. If you have not done so already, upgrade your system to the 12.3.1 or later release.
  3. Download the "Dell EMC: Isilon" PowerPack version 105 from the Support Center to a local computer.
  4. Go to the PowerPack Manager page (System > Manage > PowerPacks). Click the Actions menu and choose Import PowerPack. When prompted, import Dell EMC: Isilon version 105.
  5. Click the Install button. For details on installing PowerPacks, see the chapter on Installing a PowerPack in the PowerPacks manual.

Features

This release includes the following features:

  • Dynamic Applications to discover, model, and monitor performance metrics and collect configuration data for Dell EMC Isilon devices
  • Device classes for each type of Isilon device monitored
  • Example credentials that you can use as templates to create a SOAP/XML credential for connecting to Isilon devices and an SNMP credential for device class alignment

NOTE: For discovery, you must create an SNMP credential and a SOAP/XML credential and then select both for the discovery session.

Enhancements and Issues Addressed

The following enhancements and addressed issues are included in this release:

  • Updated the "Dell EMC: Isilon Node Hardware Config" Dynamic Application to address an issue that prevented NVRAM battery status from updating correctly on Dell EMC Isilon devices.

  • Added two new alerts and corresponding alert policies:

    • NVRAM Battery Status Healthy. This alert triggers when the battery charge status returns to GREEN from any other status.

    • NVRAM Battery Status Unhealthy. This alert triggers when the battery charge status is anything other than GREEN.

  • Identified the minimum privileges required to monitor the Dell EMC: Isilon array. The "Dell EMC: Isilon" PowerPack communicates with the Isilon array using GET requests only. You can now create a custom read-only role on OneFS that has the following minimum privileges:

    • ISI_PRIV_LOGIN_PAPI

    • ISI_PRIV_STATISTICS

    • ISI_PRIV_CLUSTER

    • ISI_PRIV_QUOTA

    • ISI_PRIV_DEVICES
