Documentation Updates for Skylar One 12.5.20

Updates to the Product Documentation for Skylar One 12.5.20 PDF Documentation

Added new access hooks for Business Services, Devices, Geographic Locations, Maps, and Platform Administration.

Access Permissions

Updated the Linux Agent to v198 and the Windows Agent to v155.

Added a new Gen3 Agent Unavailable Event Suppression Threshold setting.

Added a new Upload Interval field to the Agent Endpoint Configuration modal.

Agent Monitoring

Added a built-in user policy intended for read-only API access accounts.

Authentication

Introduced the ability to create interactive geographic maps for business services.

Multiple updates to the Service Investigator page, including renaming the RestorePoint tab to Skylar Compliance, displaying event counts in swim lanes with auto-expand/collapse functionality, renaming the Skylar AI tab to Skylar Advisor, and improving preview graph accuracy based on the selected timespan.

Business Services

Updated product branding throughout the user interface to reflect the transition from "EM7" and "SL1" to "Skylar One", including Home dashboard references.

Dashboards

Added a new ARP Topology field to the device template Config tab.

Device Groups and Device Templates

Introduced support for Address Resolution Protocol (ARP)-based topology relationships.

Added a new ARP Topology field to the Device Properties page and the Device Class Editor page.

Made assorted improvements to Layer-2, Layer-3, CDP, and LLDP topology collection.

Added enhanced device topology configuration options in AP2.

Added the ability to merge and unmerge physical and component devices in AP2.

Device Management

Refactored the Credential Gateway Service to be a native systemd unit.

Discovery and Credentials

Added an option for "IP Address" to the Component Identifier field on the Collections tab for a Dynamic Application that lets you search for component devices using IP addresses.

Modified the SSL verification behavior so that collections use the 's Verify SSL for Collections by Default setting instead of a hardcoded value.

Added confirmation dialogs when deleting or clearing Dynamic Application data.

Added the ability to select and import multiple MIB files simultaneously in the MIB Import modal.

The MIB Compiler was converted from PHP to Python to improve performance, and as a result, when importing MIBs, you will need to click the Update button on the OID Browser page to push the updated MIB data to all collectors in a stack.

Dynamic Application Development

Redesigned the Event Suppressions page.

Events

Stack-level authentication is now enabled by default for Global Manager systems and no longer requires manually adding feature toggles during setup.

User accounts are now automatically created on a Global Manager stack when a request includes the necessary user and policy information, streamlining access management across connected stacks.

Added a new topic covering the differences between Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and on-premises deployments of Skylar One.

Introduction to Skylar One

Introduced a new security framework for PowerPack management that enables digital signature verification and enforces trusted installation workflows.

Managing PowerPacks

Added a new Locations page, where you can manage locations for devices or services.

Updated the Geographic Maps page to display a list of geographic maps and their entity types.

Refactored Layer-2 relationships so stale relationships are automatically pruned.

Added support for LLDP v2.

Introduced bulk SNMP requests for topology collection for devices in classes with PDU packing enabled for improved efficiency.

Monitoring Device Infrastructure Health

Simplified authentication configuration for user accounts and user policies.

Added more clarity to the requires_python field when you are manually building a ScienceLogic library.

ScienceLogic Libraries and Execution Environments

Updated the list of Skylar One data that Skylar AI can import.

Moved all Skylar AI installation information from the Skylar AI manual to a new installation guide.

Skylar AI

Skylar AI Installation Guide

Version 104 of the Low-Code Tools PowerPack is included in the Skylar One 12.5.20 ISO, and the Snippet Framework user interface service is now enabled by default.

Improved execution behavior for snippet-based collection, including dynamic worker process allocation, SIGTERM logging when collection terminates prematurely, and downloadable execution logs for troubleshooting.

Snippet-based Dynamic Application tooling can now run on Administration Portal appliances, and the third-party library download workflow can automatically align downloaded wheels to the current execution environment and be configured via pip from the Snippet Framework user interface.

Enhanced the Snippet Framework user interface with a modern code editor, improved Collection Object Editor, colored log highlighting, updated Properties view styling, table-based device inspection, deduplication graph visualization, and live JMESPath expression evaluator.

Enhanced governance and security for low-code workflows with organization-level audit logging, improved identity validation and access control for Low-Code Explorer endpoints, and configurable memory limits for the Low-Code Explorer service.

Snippet Framework

Added several new settings relating to agents, authentication, device interfaces, Snippet Framework, and topology to the Behavior Settings page.

Made multiple improvements to the system upgrade process.

Added three new threshold slider fields on the Data Retention Settings page (System > Settings > Data Retention) for business services health, availability, and risk data retention.

Updated the process for changing the IP address of a collector.

System Administration

Refactored Layer-2 relationships so stale relationships are automatically pruned.

Added support for LLDP v2.

Views

Since the last major release of Skylar One (12.5.1 Juneau), the Product Documentation site at https://docs.sciencelogic.com was completely updated. The site now includes five new product-specific documentation sites:

In addition, a new [SkyeDocs AI Search] button now appears at the top of every documentation page. This AI search agent can help you find information in a friendly way, using conversational English instead of search terms.

Finally, the ScienceLogic API and GraphQL documentation remains available at the ScienceLogic Support Center (login required) under the Skylar One drop-down tab.
